What are the costs associated with implementing an inventory management system and what is the expected return on investment?

According to a case study by Procuro, an IARW Associate and IRTA Member Company that provides an operational monitoring and management solution for the food service and life science supply chain partners, the return on investment is very real.

In 2007, the company conducted multiple tests of its PIMM™ Outbound Delivery System with four different distributors. PIMM™ Trailer Management Controllers were installed on approximately 35 multi-compartment trailers to support real-time temperature monitoring.

The tests showed how real-time information allowed distribution centers to take corrective action in order to avoid thermal abuse and improve food quality and extend the product shelf life, but they also looked at operational savings generated by using PIMM™.
